Western Kentucky couldn’t have played much worse offensively Thursday.
Stats weren’t kind to the Lady Toppers, from a 29.6 percent shooting night from the field to marks of 21.4 percent on 3-pointers and 50 percent from the free throw line to five assists compared with 14 turnovers.
But ultimately one stat matters. And that one was in WKU’s favor.
The Lady Toppers overcame their lowest scoring output of the season and stayed perfect in Conference USA play with a 52-49 home win against Rice.
WKU (13-2, 4-0 C-USA) has now won 10 straight games overall and 11 in a row at E.
