Western Kentucky's softball team won twice Saturday in the Samford Invitational, beating Jackson State 4-0 in the opener before downing host Samford 8-1 in the second game in Birmingham, Ala.
WKU's Shelby Nunn and Kelsey Aikey combined on a one-hit shutout against Jackson State. Nunn started and got the win, tossing five innings while allowing one hit and no walks while striking out five. Aikey pitched the last two innings, striking out five.
Sullivan earned a complete-game victory against Samford, tossing seven innings while giving up one earned run on two hits and two walks with 17 strikeouts.
