The former Western Kentucky player and coach had bold words for the Hilltopper offense Friday.
"It's like watching the Patriots in college," Taggart said.
Taggart elaborated on his New England-WKU simile, comparing WKU quarterback Brandon Doughty to the Patriots' Tom Brady. He also said the Tops' tight end options, Tyler Higbee and Tim Gorski, are like New England's Rob Gronkowski.
Some of that may be a stretch, but Taggart's point was that South Florida (8-4) will have its hands full when it meets No. 25 WKU (11-2) at 1:30 p.m. CST Monday in the Miami Beach Bowl at Marlins Park.
