After letting some early chances slip away, the Western Kentucky University bats came alive just in time as WKU rallied for a 5-3 baseball win over Albany on Friday at Nick Denes Field.
WKU (9-4) spotted the Great Danes a three-run cushion before battling back to take the opener of the weekend series.
"Our guys kept battling," WKU coach John Pawlowski said. "We were fortunate to put together a couple of rallies there in the second half of the game. I'm just proud of our guys. They never wavered. They knew at some point we were going to have to come up with a couple of big hits.
