Western Kentucky's softball team swept a pair of softball contests Saturday in the Gardner-Webb tournament, topping Youngstown State 17-6 in five innings before downing Hampton 10-2 in six innings in Boiling Springs, N.C.
The Hilltoppers combined 20 RBIs and 27 total runs on the day to open the season with a 3-1 record with one game remaining on the slate for Sunday.
With four triples in four games already in 2018, WKU has already surpassed its total of three from last season. The Hilltoppers have also notched four home runs so far, with a pair off the bat of Kelsey McGuffin.
