Western Kentucky's softball team split a pair of games Sunday in the final day of the Holiday Inn Hilltoppers Classic, beating Western Illinois 4-1 before falling to Miami (Ohio) 3-1 at the WKU Softball Complex.
WKU hit six home runs during the two-day tournament, with Jordan Mauch leading with two homers. Adarian Gray, Taylor Proctor, Tommi Stowers and Brittany Vaughn also homered for the Hilltoppers.
Against Western Illinois, WKU's Kathryn Downing threw her fourth complete game of the season to earn the 4-1 victory and move to 4-0 on the season. Downing struck out a career-high seven.
