WKU Hall of Famer Rhodes dies at age 90

Gene Rhodes, a member of the Western Kentucky University Athletic Hall of Fame and a former professional men's basketball player and coach, died Saturday. He was 90.

Rhodes, a Louisville native, arrived at WKU in 1948 after earning all-state basketball honors as a guard at Male High School. With the Hilltoppers, Rhodes earned eight letters – four each in baseball and basketball – during his playing career from 1948-52.

The four Hilltopper basketball teams Rhodes played on won 95 of 120 games (79.
