WKU fails to upend UAB in 71-67 road loss

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Western Kentucky men's basketball team fell short in a game with a postseason feel Saturday.

The difference is that the Hilltoppers' season isn't over, and their confidence hasn't been higher.

WKU (14-15 overall, 6-10 Conference USA) traded punches with league-leading UAB all afternoon, but the Blazers made more plays down the stretch in a 71-67 victory in front of 7,510 fans at Bartow Arena.

"We competed," WKU coach Ray Harper said. "We were right there, and we're not done. I think we let them know today that the game at our place was not a fluke.
