WKU earns 'long overdue' win in home finale over UTEP

WKU (2-9 overall, 1-6 Conference USA) led 27-0 after one quarter and 40-0 at halftime, which was more than enough to secure the first conference win of the year, despite an absent offense in the second half.

WKU intercepted UTEP quarterbacks Kai Locksley and Brandon Jones five times in the first half and turned it into 31 points. The fifth went to Gaej Walker for an 18-yard pick-6 late in the second quarter to go up 40-0.

The fireworks were done from that point forward. UTEP (1-10, 1-6) outscored WKU 16-0 in the second half. The Toppers built a large enough cushion to hold off any revived nightmares from that Maine loss.
