WKU's athletics department is cutting six jobs — four part-time and two full-time — as a result of a recommended $1.3 million cut to the department's budget, the department confirmed with the Herald on Friday.
Five of the six jobs have not yet been disclosed by the university. The women's basketball coordinator of operations is one of the jobs being eliminated, which was revealed by the university this past Monday, along with 119 other position cuts across the university.
As of Tuesday, the women's basketball program was still determining how to distribute the duties of that position, which included "travel and meal details for the team while on the road, setting up practice times for the team and acting as the program's summer camp director," according to an email from Currie McFayden, WKU's associate director of athletic communications and media relations for the women's basketball and soccer teams.
