Not surprisingly, Western Kentucky was forced into a shootout with Marshall on Saturday night.
The Hilltoppers were a few plays shy of keeping pace with the high-scoring Thundering Herd.
WKU (12-13 overall, 4-8 Conference USA) rallied in the final minutes of regulation to force overtime, but came up short in a 96-93 loss in front of 4,373 fans at E.A. Diddle Arena.
"I just feel like we missed a lot of golden opportunities," WKU coach Ray Harper said. "I don't know how many shots we missed at the rim, but there were a number. You probably couldn't count them on one hand.
