The Western Kentucky baseball team earned its fifth straight win Tuesday with a 10-4 victory at Belmont in its first midweek game of the season.
The Hilltoppers (6-1), off to their best start since 2010, notched their first win at Belmont since 2011.
Starting pitcher Logan Weins and reliever Sam Higgs combined to allow just six hits. Higgs surrendered one run in a career-high 5 2/3 innings to pick up the win, while Weins fanned a career-best four batters in his first start of the season.
Sophomore Kaleb Duckworth broke the game open in the top of the third inning when he sent a 1-2 pitch over the center-field wall to bring home Steven Kraft and Danny Hudzina for a 4-0 WKU lead.
