IRVING, Texas – After helping the WKU Lady Toppers to a 3-0 mark over the weekend and the Bobcat Invitational Championship, juniors Alyssa Cavanaugh and Jessica Lucas have been named the Offensive Player of the Week and Setter of the Week, respectively in Conference USA. The league office announced the first awards of the 2016 season on Monday, Aug. 29.
Cavanaugh put on a stellar performance in Athens, Ohio, registering a .435 hitting percentage including 55 kills and a league-high 5.00 kills per set. The junior tallied a pair of 20-kill performances, including a new career high 23 kills in WKU’s 3-1 victory over Florida Gulf Coast.
