The coaching vacancy left by former WKU men's basketball head coach Ray Harper has been filled.
Rick Stansbury, former Mississippi State head coach and recent Texas A&M associate head coach, has been named WKU's next men's basketball coach. He will be introduced at an official press conference at 1 p.m. at Smith Stadium on Monday.
Stansbury amassed a 293-165 record in 14 seasons at Mississippi State. He retired from the position in March 2012, citing a desire to spend more time with family, but returned to coaching in 2014 at Texas A&M.
Stansbury's hiring comes in the wake of Harper's resignation and the suspension of three WKU players following the results of a University Disciplinary hearing.
