The Bowling Green native came back to his hometown Dec. 28, 2016, in an Austin Peay uniform and put on a show at E.A. Diddle Arena. He scored 24 points and hit five 3-pointers for the Governors, nearly leading them to a road victory in what turned out to be a 97-92 Western Kentucky win.
The Hilltopper coach Stansbury was immediately impressed by Savage. And when the Warren Central High School grad transferred from Austin Peay this offseason, WKU’s coach reached out and made him a Topper.
Stansbury raved last week during a news conference at Diddle Arena about Savage.
