The Hilltoppers' season opener against FCS program Central Arkansas has been moved from Aug. 31 two days back to Aug. 29, sources told the Daily News on Tuesday.
2019 will mark the fifth time in six years that WKU plays its season opener on a weeknight. The only exception was 2017, when the Toppers hosted FCS school Eastern Kentucky on a Saturday.
WKU opened the 2014 season on a Friday vs. Bowling Green, the 2015 year on a Thursday at Vanderbilt, the 2016 season on a Thursday vs. Rice and last fall's schedule began on a Friday at Wisconsin.
