Western Kentucky’s baseball team had two walk-off wins earlier this season on an error and balk; the Hilltoppers’ third was of a more exciting variety.
Right fielder Jake Sanford hit a solo home run to left-center field in the bottom of the ninth inning to give WKU a 5-4 victory over visiting Alabama-Birmingham on Friday night at Nick Denes Field, as the Hilltoppers started the Conference USA portion of their schedule 1-0.
“I thought our team did a great job of holding the line,” WKU coach John Pawlowski said in a news release. “We were up 4-0 and give UAB credit, they battled back into this thing.
