Old Dominion guard Xavier Green led all scorers with 22 points and hit six 3-pointers. His 15-foot jumper with 16 seconds left was the go-ahead shot in a 67-63 Monarchs win at the Ted Constant Convocation center.
Green came into Saturday’s showdown between WKU (16-12 overall, 9-6 Conference USA) and ODU (22-6, 12-3 C-USA) averaging 8.4 points per game. He set new career-bests for points (22), made field goals (seven) and made 3-pointers (six).
“The basket looked really wide open,” Green said. “I was getting so many easy looks, so I kept shooting.”
The Hilltoppers led 63-60 with 1:25 left.
