WKU continued a tumultous season with a 38-17 loss to Florida International Saturday, ending the Hilltoppers' chance at bowl elibiligity.
“We‘ve got to be opportunistic,” WKU head coach Mike Sanford said after the game. “When we have our opportunities to, you know, make big plays on either the passing game or just, we got to be opportunistic and seize those moments.”
The Hilltoppers’ first drive started out promising, with big plays by sophomore wide receiver Jacquez Sloan and redshirt freshman running back Joshua Samuel. The drive ended when WKU opted to fake a 43-yard field goal attempt and senior kicker Ryan Nuss’ pass was broken up.
