HOUSTON — Western Kentucky dominated Rice in rebounding Thursday, but that was one of many stats that mattered little to the Hilltoppers by the final horn.
WKU (9-8 overall, 1-3 Conference USA) collapsed again in the waning minutes of a league contest, losing 83-73 to the Owls on the road at Tudor Fieldhouse.
"They won the rebounding there at the end of the game in the last four minutes," graduate senior guard Aaron Cosby said. "That's something we've been talking about in practice, dominating the last four minutes."
WKU was outrebounding Rice 40-16 at one point in the second half.
