MIAMI — Western Kentucky said goodbye to a standout group of seniors Monday, but quarterback Brandon Doughty has a special place in Hilltopper lore.
"My journey's been unbelievable," Doughty said. "I feel like I could write a book."
The final chapter of that book is the No. 25 Hilltoppers' 45-35 victory over South Florida in the Miami Beach Bowl.
Doughty rallied from a shaky start to complete 32 of 44 passes for 461 yards and three touchdowns with two interceptions. He was named the game's MVP.
"It shows what kind of quarterback he is," WKU coach Jeff Brohm said.
