Western Kentucky has struggled at times on the road this year, starting 1-2 on opponents’ home floors.
On Sunday afternoon, the Lady Toppers were in danger of slipping to 1-3 in such contests, trailing UT Arlington 54-50 in the fourth quarter.
Then WKU took over, launching a 15-0 run. That five-minute, final-quarter burst carried the Lady Toppers to a 73-64 road victory against the Lady Mavericks.
WKU (5-2) won with a combination of pressure defense and solid shooting.
The Lady Toppers forced UTA (3-5) into 24 turnovers while only committing 12 of their own. On the other end of the floor, WKU hit 8 of 16 3-pointers and was 17 of 20 from the foul stripe.
