Western Kentucky isn’t in the driver’s seat, but it’s still in the hunt.
The Lady Toppers lost their chance to claim a solo spot atop the Conference USA standings Saturday, falling 85-78 to UTEP at E.A. Diddle Arena.
Had WKU won, it would be a game up on everyone else in the conference with seven contests left to play in the regular season.
Instead, the Miners (19-2 overall, 10-1 C-USA) mounted a late rally and seized control of first place. The Lady Toppers (18-4, 9-2) took the tough loss and fell into a second-place tie with archrival Middle Tennessee (15-7, 9-2).
