A stout defense led to quick scores in WKU’s 74-60 win over Old Dominion on Thursday in the Conference USA Tournament quarterfinals at The Star.
The Lady Toppers (18-13) held Old Dominion (21-10) to nine points in the fourth quarter and had a clear advantage in rebounding that led to easy transition buckets.
Creech and Raneem Elgedawy each had double-doubles and four Lady Toppers scored in double figures.
The Lady Toppers outrebounded the Lady Monarchs 50-40 and outscored them in the paint 44-34. The Lady Toppers had 15 more defensive rebounds, which led to 14 quick points in transition that fit WKU’s style and strength.
