David Elson spent 14 seasons involved with the Western Kentucky football program. Now the longtime Hilltopper coach will face his old program.
Elson will coach Saturday at Houchens-Smith Stadium as Ball State’s defensive coordinator. The Cardinals and WKU are set for a 6 p.m. kickoff, with the game to be streamed online at watchstadium.com and twitter.stadium.com.
Elson joined head coach Jack Harbaugh’s WKU staff in 1996 after two years as graduate assistant at Southern Illinois.
Elson stayed in that role for five years, then took over as defensive coordinator from 2001-02, helping the Toppers to the 2002 I-AA national championship.
