Hilltoppers survive fall camp, turn attention toward EKU

The Hilltoppers spent the last three weeks in a fall camp that coach Mike Sanford described as “hard,” “long,” “physical” and “a grind.”

That 21-day period wrapped up this weekend. Players spent long days in the Houchens-Smith Stadium football facility in meetings and on the practice field, trying to perfect the schemes Sanford and his new WKU staff are implementing.

“We’ve maximized their days for 21 days,” Sanford said Saturday after a scrimmage. “These guys have left the building at 10 p.m. most nights and that’s new to them. That’s not something they’ve been doing for a long time.
