STILLWATER, Okla. – Western Kentucky has played its best this season when facing teams from college basketball’s upper echelon.
The Hilltoppers won 92-84 on Wednesday night in an National Invitation Tournament quarterfinal at Oklahoma State. Guard Taveion Hollingsworth scored 30 points as WKU (27-10) claimed victory in a rowdy Gallagher-Iba Arena.
The victory over the Big 12 Conference’s Cowboys (21-15) continued the Toppers’ trend of stepping up against high-major competition.
WKU is now 5-2 this season against the top seven leagues in Division I, according to Ken Pomeroy metrics – the American Athletic, Atlantic Coast, Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, Pacific-12 and Southeastern conferences.
