Just like in Sunday’s loss to Troy when the Hilltoppers couldn’t rally from a 17-point deficit, they couldn’t overcome a 19-point gap Wednesday at Belmont.
The Toppers (5-6) trailed 42-28 at halftime and then 57-38 with 15:13 left in the game. They mounted a furious charge and cut the deficit to as few as four points in the final minute but couldn’t finish the job.
WKU lost another six-point decision Wednesday to Belmont (9-1). The Tops outscored the Bruins 46-38 in the second half and 36-23 over the final 15 minutes, but that wasn’t enough to overcome a sluggish start.
