Thompson scored 20 points and was one of the stars of a 98-70 win for No. 3 seed WKU against No. 6 seed Alabama-Birmingham in a Conference USA quarterfinal at The Star.
Thompson has shown up most of the time this season for the Toppers (23-9), averaging 14.4 points and 4.8 assists per game.
Thompson’s final season of college basketball included the second triple-double in WKU history Jan. 6 in a win at Marshall. He went off for 33 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in that victory.
But when Thompson has been off his game, it’s typically signaled a loss for the Hilltoppers.
