BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Western Kentucky’s quest for a third straight conference tournament title came to a disappointing end Thursday night.
The No. 3 seed Lady Toppers never could get in a rhythm against No. 6 seed Marshall and fell 66-63 in a quarterfinal at Bartow Arena.
WKU (24-6) lost despite the heroic efforts of C-USA Player of the Year Kendall Noble. The redshirt junior guard finished with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, good for the second triple-double of her season, of her career and of Lady Topper history.
Noble’s triple-double was the first in C-USA Tournament history, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a stale effort from the rest of the WKU squad against an inspired Thundering Herd (21-10) group.
