BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Hilltoppers wanted another shot at UAB. Now they've got it.
Eighth-seeded Western Kentucky (17-15) will square off with the top-seeded Blazers (26-5) at noon Thursday in the Conference USA Tournament quarterfinals at Legacy Arena.
The Tops set up the showdown by beating North Texas 84-76 in Wednesday's second round.
"I was excited as soon as I saw the schedule, and we knew we had to beat North Texas, and then we had UAB," WKU junior center Ben Lawson said. "That was like the perfect conference schedule. It sounds silly, but coach has a fire under him, and we have a fire under us.
