Rio de Janeiro felt so far away to Claire Donahue at one point.
The former Western Kentucky swimmer and Olympic gold medalist saw the 2016 Olympics in Brazil as a lifetime away after competing in the London Games in 2012.
But with the months melting away before the Olympic trials for Rio this summer, the immediacy of the situation has finally hit Donahue.
"When you have five months left going into trials, it makes it a little nerve-wracking, and you're definitely more focused," she said. "You don't have as much time. It's kind of funny. Four years ago, we were like, 'Oh my gosh, four years is so far away' after the 2012 Olympics, but now that it's five months away, it's like, 'Where did all that time go?
