Former players' opinions weigh heavily in Helton's hire

Todd Stewart already knew Tyson Helton well from the two years Helton spent at Western Kentucky.

Stewart wanted to gauge the input of Helton’s former players and see if what they told him matched his instincts.

One of those program alums was Forrest Lamp. The WKU All-Century Team captain who anchored the Hilltoppers’ offensive lines from 2013-16 is now in his second year with the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers.
