Early signing date offers WKU chance to lock in much of class

Coach Mike Sanford and his Hilltopper staff have secured the commitments of 23 Class of 2018 prospects since this spring.

In years past, WKU would have had to hold on to all those recruits for another two months before they could officially sign on National Signing Day the first Wednesday of February.

Now many of those prospects will sign Wednesday as the Toppers aim to lock up much of their class before Christmas.

“I think really it’s going to end up working out in our favor,” Nate Dennison, WKU’s director of recruiting, said Saturday before the Hilltoppers’ Cure Bowl loss to Georgia State.
