Former Western Kentucky University and Bristow High School standout Darel Carrier and ex-Lady Topper player and head coach Mary Taylor Cowles are among the 17-person group set for induction Saturday into the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame in Elizabethtown.
Carrier, who later starred at WKU and played for the ABA's Kentucky Colonels, was known as a prolific scorer at Bristow from 1956 to 1960. Carrier averaged 28 points per game as a freshman, 32 points his junior year and 33 points a game his senior season.
For his career, Carrier scored over 3,100 points, averaging more than 30 points a game and finishing as one of the state’s all-time leading scorers.
