LEXINGTON – Western Kentucky knew it had to hit long-range shots and try to outrebound Ohio State to have a shot at breaking a 17-year winless streak in the NCAA Tournament.
The No. 12-seed Lady Toppers were confident they could succeed in shooting and hopeful they could outwork the No. 5-seed Buckeyes on the glass.
Fresh off another Conference USA championship, WKU did everything right but put the ball in the hole in a 70-63 loss to Ohio State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday at Memorial Coliseum.
Size disadvantage and all, WKU outrebounded Ohio State 44-43 with an 18-10 edge on the offensive glass.
