HATTIESBURG, Miss. – A familiar scenario started to play out Thursday night at Reed Green Coliseum.
Western Kentucky jumped out to a commanding lead. Its opponent made a run to get back in the game and had all the momentum.
But this time, the Hilltoppers held off a team’s second-half charge and pulled out a victory.
WKU scored a 66-63 win Thursday at Southern Mississippi in a game it led 34-21 at halftime. The Golden Eagles got to within three points with 12:20 to go, but the Toppers (11-9 overall, 4-3 Conference USA) kept USM (11-9, 3-5) at bay for their third straight victory.
