HATTIESBURG, Miss. – In the final game of the weekend, WKU (24-24, 10-14 C-USA) could not deliver a precious Mother’s Day victory as the Hilltoppers fell 13-4 to No. 18 Southern Miss (34-14, 18-6 C-USA) on Sunday afternoon at Pete Taylor Park.
Two big innings by the Golden Eagles proved to be costly in the fixture, with the first being a five-run bottom of the second on four hits and two errors. Southern Miss would later add insurance runs on a home run in the fifth and seven more in the seventh to pull away for good.
