BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – WKU Baseball (11-9) dropped its first midweek game of the year on Tuesday night, falling to Austin Peay (10-9), 16-2, in a windy night at Nick Denes Field.
The Hilltoppers will have a quick turnaround as they get set to host Middle Tennessee for a three-game series in Conference USA play, starting with Game 1 on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT.
In the midweek defeat, WKU was not able slow down Governors attack, which ranks in the Top 50 in the NCAA in multiple hitting categories. The Govs out-hit the Tops 16-9 in the contest and used big innings in the eighth and ninth frames to blow open the game.
