According to a report by CBS Sports reporter Jon Rothstein, former assistant men's basketball coach Chris Shumate will be leaving Western Kentucky University to join the staff at Northern Kentucky University.
Shumate was hired by former Head Coach Ray Harper last season and served under him for the 2015-2016 basketball season.
Several sources confirmed that Stansbury had previously said that he would retain Shumate for the upcoming season.
However, Shumate will be leaving for NKU which is a bit closer to home for the native of Louisville.
Shumate was also a key factor in bringing in former University of Tennessee players Willie Carmichael and Jabari McGhee to WKU's program.
