MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Monongalia County Judge denied a request by a suspended senior WVU Women’s Basketball player to force the team to allow her to play in the National Invitation Tournament, according to her lawyer.
The lawsuit claimed Theresa Ekhelar, a center, was being arbitrary punished twice by the athletics department. It ordered Ekhelar serve a one-game suspension, not start a second game and undergo anger management and psychological counseling.
Judge Phillip Gaujot denied the request for a restraining order preventing WVU Athletics from enforcing its suspension until the WVU Student Conduct disciplinary process is completed.
