WVU Soccer Teams Rise in National Rankings

The WVU soccer teams find themselves climbing the polls in this week’s United Soccer Coaches poll. The women’s team moved up three spots to No. 3 and the men’s team, after forcing their way in last week, find themselves at No. 14.

Nikki Izzo-Brown’s squad knocked off former No. 1 Penn State, 2-1, at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium, on Saturday. Sh’nia Gordon’s volley gave the Mountaineers the breakthrough, but Lauren Segalla slotted home the eventual game-winner 37 minutes in. The Mountaineers followed that with a 2-0 home win over Wright State on Monday.

Marlon LeBlanc’s campaign to pack DDSS for Friday night’s WVU men’s soccer game against Wright State worked on both fronts.
