The event features 301 athletes from across the country. There are a total of three Olympic spots available for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympics, including two in men’s air rifle and one in women’s air rifle.
This weekend is the first of the trials’ two parts, as athletes face three straight days of competition, featuring three qualifiers and three separate finals. Each day’s qualifying scores and points from the event finals will be added to each competitor’s score to receive a cumulative total.
The top-10 participants in each discipline advance to the final stage of the Air Gun Team Trials next June.
