The Mountaineers won three races and tallied five runner-up finishes against the Monarchs and Tar Heels on the 2,000 meter course.
“The Novice 4+ was our top performing crew of the day,” said coach Jimmy King. “They successfully applied the gains made during this week’s spring training camp into today’s competition, earning open water wins in two races.”
The morning races were highlighted by a first-place finish in the first novice four race. The novice four crew featured coxswain Kaitlin Sullivan, Amanda Garn, Kara Ehrenberger, Nicole Bender and Sarah Williams and crossed the line in 8:12.
