DEKALB, Ill. – A goal in the final minute of the second overtime gave Northern Illinois a 2-1 victory over the West Virginia University men’s soccer team on Saturday night at the NIU Soccer Complex.
In the regular-season finale for both teams, the Mountaineers (8-7-1, 1-4 Mid-American Conference) scored in the 60th minute before the Huskies (2-10-4, 1-3-1 MAC) answered to tie the match in the 80th minute. NIU broke the tie in the second overtime with 53 seconds remaining in the contest.
Senior forward Felix Angerer netted his fourth goal of the season for West Virginia and had two of WVU’s 15 shots.
