NORFOLK, Va. – The West Virginia University baseball team closed an 11-day, eight-game roadtrip with a 7-4 loss at Old Dominion on Saturday afternoon in Norfolk, Virginia.
In the series finale at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex, the Mountaineers (8-7) scored four runs on six hits with two errors and stranded six runners on base. The Monarchs (11-4) won the three-game series, scoring seven runs on 10 hits with one error while stranding 11 baserunners.
WVU trailed 2-0 early before scoring a run in the seventh inning to cut the deficit in half, at 2-1. ODU answered with five runs, all unearned, in the eighth, to take a 7-1 lead before the Mountaineers tried to rally in the ninth, scoring three runs.
