MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Shelton Gibson had a career-high 148 receiving yards, showcasing the kind of big-play ability he was sorely missing the past several games, and a stout defense continued to impress as West Virginia defeated Iowa State, 30-6, in its 2015 home finale.
The victory was the fourth in a row for the Mountaineers (7-4, 4-4 Big 12), who entered November with a 3-4 record after four-consecutive losses.
After pitching a 49-0 shutout last week against a listless Kansas team, West Virginia held the visiting Cyclones (3-9, 2-7) without a touchdown. The Mountaineers have not allowed a touchdown since the third quarter of their Nov.
