Two players really stood out for the Mountaineers in the win over a talented Big 10 squad. First, there was an impressive performance on the mound by freshman pitcher Michael Grove.
Grove went six innings, allowing just one run on six hits. All the while, he asserted his dominance with 13 strikeouts, the most by any pitcher from the Big 12 Conference this season.
Seeing Grove find his groove and work out of jams is certainly encouraging as the Mountaineers hope to finish strong at the end of the season. He doesn’t seemed fazed by these important games.
