Wolf’s 1-hitter propels West Virginia to season-opening win

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Left-hander Jackson Wolf picked up where West Virginia baseball left off on Friday nights last season, giving the Mountaineers a stellar start in their season-opening 3-0 win at Jacksonville University.

Wolf allowed one hit in 7 shutout innings, while senior Brandon Zarbinsky contributed with both his bat and his arm in his return to the lineup after missing last season with an injury. Zarbinsky knocked in a two-run single, then moved from the outfield to the mound for the final two outs to record the save.

Wolf retired 18 consecutive Dolphins in his dominant start.
