For the second consecutive year, the Chesterland, Ohio, native has been an Academic All-America First Team honoree while sporting a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She is the first WVU track and field and cross country student-athlete to receive back-to-back honors. Williams graduated with a Master’s of Science in journalism.
“Obviously Kelly’s academic resume speaks for itself,” said coach Sean Cleary. “A perfect record through both undergraduate and graduate school, culminating with a 4.0 GPA here at West Virginia. It’s very rare that a student-athlete comes in and reaches the highest pinnacle both athletically and academically.
“Kelly has graduated from West Virginia as a First Team All-American in the mile and graduates with the distinction of being an Academic All-American in the classroom.
